The Poetics and Politics of the Heart

We must each understand and see how the Grace of Life, the Essence of the Life-Motive, becomes bound up in the conditioned self and its relations. Our relational life, our daily functional life is tending to be created and motivated on the basis of dissociation from the Life-Motive. Which means we are emotionally dissociated from our True Self.
— Sri Yanchiji

Everything here in this realm of impermanence is the Play/Work/Creation/Destruction of the All-Abiding Life Force – the Life-Motive.
There is Life’s Motive and our human motive. However, we are all the Living examples of That Great Mysterious Energy which is continuously evolving and changing everything into Its endless Forms and no Forms.

It is a shocking experience for all of us to take form in a realm of impermanence, a place of birth and death – a place where the Life-Motive is not too concerned about our individual survival motive. This fact cannot be avoided - however, while we remain in the shock of our conditional existence, we tend to emotionally dissociate from the Life-Motive, the Spiritual Real, which is the Source of our Natural Being.
We tend to frightfully retreat into a self based on our emotional reactive adaptation to conditional existence. In other words, left to our conditionally reactive mind, we become compulsively orientated towards the conditioned-self, the bodily-self and its relations or its form of relating. We tend to adhere to the politics of separateness, of seeking and death.

However, the conditioned self is not the Principle of Life and therefore, not the Principle of You. The Life-Motive underlying and Living all manifestation is the Principle of Existence and therefore the True Self. This being so, the Impersonal Life-Motive, the Heart of all must become the commitment of all humans, no matter what their emotional reactive adaptation to the world and others.

The Life-Motive, the Spiritual Master, the Heart’s Transmission (all the same One) is not about any of us personally. Each one of us must first of all begin to understand our own attachment to the personal- mind self and its trauma, not in any way to find more apparent faults, shortcomings or glitches in the psycho-physical mechanism but so that we can better understand what Spiritual Practice is.

Each one of us must see how we are emotionally dissociating from the Life-Motive in our own case, in favour of our own reactive adaption to Existence and its subsequent motives.

It is from this point of view, the emotionally dissociated from Life point of view, that we like to dramatise emotional and reactive ideals of love, community, spiritual practice, co-operation and relationship. We are seldom short of a stream of turgid emotional claptrap on what life is all about and how everyone else should be.

It’s a curious thing - well, if we are actually curious - to discover our personal opinions are not an evolutionary necessity. Damn!

We must understand, in our own case, how we have formed a policy-making, belief-making subjective self - an idea of our self, a belief about life and who we think we are - on the basis of our emotional reactive adaptation to this conditional world.
Each one of us must first of all understand how we create and maintain a subjective-self, a self firmly lodged in the mind. This understanding must precede Spiritual Practice, otherwise we tend to think Spiritual Practice means either some kind of subjective-self austerity or something fantastical and vain - something that enhances the subjective self.

Spiritual Practice is not a goal nor is it a problem-solving exercise, and it is not about trying to be a good subjective-self. Spiritual Practice is the means of Liberating the Living Life-Motive Energies from the subjective-self. It is not about the politics of the subjective self whatsoever. It is about leaving the confinement of life within the subjective-self reservation in the mind and returning to the Heart Home Land.

This being so, the only thing needed is Passionate Love of the Spiritual Real, the Life-Motive, the Very Heart of All. However, in our keenly crafted self-deception (a hedge against submitting into Love), we humans are desirously inclined to mistake fascination, interest and vain self-satisfaction for Passionate Love for the Spiritual Real. Well, any excuse will do because it feels unsafe and wrong to leave the fictitious shelter of the reservation so kindly provided by those who know better than you.

Oh, I remember this pilgrimage well, for at every step I took outside the reservation, the mind accosted me like a wild rooster, demanding allegiance to the politics of domination of the subjective self.

The usual individual, full of desire and fear, does not consider this matter seriously. People are too much (well, pretty much all the time) trying to make themselves feel better and are, therefore, generally open to random influences and experiences that enhance the subjective-self. This is the seeker, the one always seeking answers, answers that will satisfy the subjective self. And yet these answers never do satisfy, for they never actually allow the body/mind to be Lived in and by the Natural (Original) State of Being.
Such a one directs most of their attention towards the casual maintenance of conventional behaviour patterns, reactivity and popular beliefs, alongside the maintenance of the subjective self’s boundary fences.

Unless we become whole-heartedly engaged in the Process of Love Fully sacrificing the subjective-self into the Life-Motive or Great Heart, we tend to become confinedin the mind, the nuclear reactor factory that is always on the edge of a meltdown.
And the politics of the mind is always about how best to navigate round each other’s emotional state and, at the same time, always trying to accommodate our own constricted sense of self. There is the constant threat of a nuclear explosion one way or another – well, some kind of toxic fall-out anyway.

In any case, the worldly politics of the mind tends to vanquish the Wisdom Poeticsof the Heart. In fact, the mind’s reasoning is so very often in conflict with the Heart’s Passion.

Left to the conditionally reactive mind, we become compulsively orientated towards the conditioned self and its relations – its form of relating.

From this point of view, the subjective-self point of view, the seeker will perceive the Spiritual Adept’s Heart Way as an obstacle to her/his seeking. The seeker is the motive in us that wants answers and solutions to the felt dilemma one is in when dissociated from the Life-Motive that is the Very Source of our Existence. The seeker wants answers and experiences and new belief systems that will provide some relief, some happiness in the midst of their underlying dissociation from their True Self Being. So often when the seekers’ politics rub up against the Politics of the Heart, the seeker becomes dis-heartened, annoyed and resentful.

The Poetics and Politics of the Heart or Life-Motive creates the Politics of Nature, and therefore the True Politics of functional human existence. However, do we allow this? It seems for the time being, we are bound in a self-congratulatory ignorance when it comes to our species’ intelligence. What intelligence? An intelligence that can rocket us into space, when we cannot observe the Politics of Love or the Poetic Justice of Nature – when we cannot clean up our own destruction of Mother Earth? I had not long emerged from childhood before I experienced, deeply at Heart, dismay at and distaste for the narcissistic human glorification of the intelligence of its own species.

How could one not? The intelligence we do have we squander on all manner of consolations, self-deception, banal gossip, repetitive stories about oneself, ironic taunting of one another and the destruction of our Earthly Home.

Nature’s Politics is forever subject to the Governance of the Life-Motive, the Very Heart of all. These Laws cross all human-made boundaries, whether they relate to country, culture, religion or ideology. The Politics of Nature remains Steadfast in its qualities - of self-forgetting (if there ever was a self) Radiance, Love, Courage, Delight, Wildness, Happiness, Wonder, Resoluteness and Faithfulness - qualities that exhibit a generous opulence.

We exist in the Immense Intelligence of the Life-Motive, the Spiritual Real and that makes us Vessels of Its Truth. Our bodies are temporary servants of the Will of the Life-Motive. It is only by withdrawal into a subjective-self that we emotionally disassociate from the Life-Motive, the Heart of all. So, how to transcend the habit of the subjective-self?

The only thing needed is Passionate Love of the Spiritual Real, the Life-Motive of all, rather than assuming Spiritual Practice means something fantastical and vain, something that enhances the subjective self.

The Sovereignty of the Politics of Nature must always be treasured, honored, obeyed and protected; it must never be subjugated to any human cultural or political economic dominance. The Poetics and Politics of the Heart must never be shackled to the politics of the human species’ self-appointed superiority and its voracious desire for power and control. There must be no privileging of any single doctrine or ideology. We must understand, with genuine humility, that until we Awaken to the Poetics and Politics of the Heart, nothing will save us from our treacherous appetites.

Dearest Beloved Hearts, the Poetics and Politics of the Heart do not need an education. They require a joyous life, a freely expressive life. They require their own to flourish. The Poetics and Politics of the Heart require You to Companion them.

The Life-Motive that surges through every cell of the body is the Source of the Transformative Power of our human life. It is the Ultimate Author of the Poetics and Politics of the Sacred Text written in every cell of our body.

Beloved Hearts, deliberately and constantly set aside as much time as you can to rest in the Power of the Life-Motive – It is You. Abide more often than not in the Simple and Noble Regions of the Self, the Life-Motive. Stop and be still; let the mindfall down into a whole bodily feeling-recognition of your Core Being, which is Constant, Clear, Self-Existing and always Present.

The Principle that is the Natural State of Being, that is the Truth Condition, that is the Life-Motive (all the same One) must become your commitment absolutely.

The Heart or the Life-Motive is the Council of All Beings. It is the Sanctuary wherein the Poetics and Politics of the Heart are kept Alive. And the Ashram Hermitage is aphysical Sanctuary or Living Home for Nomads: those who cling to no worldly identity in order to Live every Expression of the Poetics and Politics of the Heart.

 So Be It.
